Responders Ahead!

Reduce your speed as you proceed with timely alerts

Every year, law enforcement, fire and rescue, EMS, public works, transportation, towing, and other responders put their lives at risk to clear motor vehicle crashes and other roadway incidents such as stalled vehicles or debris. Responders are the first on scene, protecting every road user, and their safety deserves to be top of mind. When a traffic incident responder is struck, it affects not just their family and friends; it affects fellow responders and the community with fewer heroes and resources to support broader needs.

Emergency personnel and roadside professionals need space to do their jobs safely and effectively. Drivers giving professionals the room to work is key to that. HAAS Alert’s Safety Cloud® service notifies drivers in advance of the presence of emergency fleets on the side of the road compared to traditional lights, sirens, and other analog alerting tools.

NEWCOM works with public safety agencies to implement HAAS Alert’s collision prevention service, Safety Cloud. With timely alerts inside vehicles, drivers have time to move over and slow down. This ensures the safety of emergency responders and workers while in accordance with the law.

Crash Responder Safety Week is November 18-22

Crash Responder Safety Week (CRSW) is an opportunity to make a difference individually and jointly for roadway safety during traffic incidents by teaching each other and the motoring public about our common goal and responsibility for safe, quick clearance.

Public education and effective Traffic Incident Management (TIM) practices that alert drivers and prepare them to react properly when encountering emergency scenes, including moving over and slowing down, keep motorists safe, reduce needless secondary crashes, and save lives. The goal of Crash Responder Awareness Week is to reach out to every emergency responder, every driver, and every passenger, to educate them in how to play their part in ensuring safe responses at roadway incident scenes.¹

During Crash Responder Safety Week and every other day of the year, NEWCOM is dedicated to working towards a safer and more connected roadway for everyone. #CRSW
