Efforts to minimize vaping amongst students have been in the works for some time. Education campaigns, counseling and peer-support groups are making strides, but more and more schools are turning to vape detection systems for help. After Installing Triton Vape Detectors, Luling ISD Saw an 83% Decline in Vaping Within 10 Weeks
Challenge
Students were constantly vaping nicotine and marijuana in school bathrooms, locker rooms, and stairwells. Luling installed 27 3D Sense units in their high school in March 2023. Triton measured the total number of vaping events throughout the school year to gauge the efficacy of the 3D Sense units.
Triton Results
Luling went from over 900 vaping events in the first two weeks to below 300 in just 5 weeks. This study ends on Luling’s last week of school where they recorded just 151 vaping events from their 27 sensors. This equates to an 83% decrease over 10 weeks. This is also consistent with our other research showing that results can take four to five weeks to take place but when they do they are dramatic.
